About Tasmanian Chocolate Makers
Tasmanian Chocolate Makers was born from a simple yet transformative moment.
In 2023, the founding owners tasted chocolate fresh from the renowned Pilopaso Chocolate Haus in the Solomon Islands. Made from pure cacao and sugar, stone-ground using traditional methods, it challenged everything they thought chocolate could be. This wasn't the overly sweet, mass-produced confection they had grown up with. It was rich, complex, vibrant, and deeply connected to the cacao bean itself.
That experience planted the seed for Tasmanian Chocolate Makers: a desire to share the authentic taste of real chocolate.
In 2026, the chocolate-making baton was passed to Hobart chocolatier Lisa and chocolate maker Frans, whose passion for bean-to-bar chocolate continues the vision that inspired the business from the beginning.
Today, Lisa and Frans craft and share their chocolate through Norman and Dann in Salamanca, introducing customers to the surprise, delight, and depth of flavour that comes from genuinely handcrafted chocolate. Every bar tells a story of origin, craftsmanship, and respect for the cacao bean.
Our Philosophy
Tasmanian Chocolate Makers is built on three guiding principles: Simplicity, Quality, and Joy.
Simplicity
We believe great chocolate needs very little. Our recipes use only essential ingredients, our packaging is recyclable, and our chocolate is crafted using traditional small-batch methods that honour the natural qualities of cacao.
Quality
Exceptional chocolate begins with exceptional cacao. We source premium cacao and cacao butter directly from neighbouring Pacific Island communities, building ethical and transparent relationships through Cacao Embassy Australia. By working closely with farming communities, we support fair compensation, sustainable practices, and long-term partnerships.
Joy
Chocolate should bring joy—to the growers who cultivate the cacao, to the makers who transform it, and to the people who savour it. We celebrate the pure, unmasked character of cacao and invite our customers to experience chocolate as it was always meant to be.
Real Chocolate, Nothing Hidden
Our chocolate is made in small batches using whole cacao beans, cacao butter, and sugar. That's it.
No vanilla to mask the flavour of the cacao. No fillers, emulsifiers, or unnecessary additives. Just carefully crafted chocolate that allows the unique characteristics of each origin to shine through.
From Pacific Island cacao farms to our chocolate workshop, every step is guided by a commitment to authenticity, quality, and connection.
We are proud to continue sharing the remarkable flavours, stories, and traditions of Pacific cacao—one bar at a time.
